N/C = Normally Closed. Your alarm system is basically monitoring a set of closed loops. There are different styles but these recessed ones are probably the most common:
You'll need to drill into your window frame to pull the alarm cable through. Solder the contact's leads to the wires and then silicone it in place. Position the magnet on the sliding part of the window; test fit it with tape before securing in place with silicone.
