I was under the impression that the receiver is technically the only part that needs to be locked up if you have it in bits, but I could be wrong. Either way I just toss everything back in the cabinet, I'd rather not work on technicalities or give myself the chance to misplace stuff (or my cats, with my luck they'd decide that a spring or screw is an excellent new toy).
