Mehhh the OEM pads inspire twice as much confidence when hot vs. cold IMO. Sure they are adequate for the street, but the feel and sensation of braking power is far better when you have some heat in them.

I have to agree with the tires, they are expensive. But brake pad isn't that bad.
I haven't try steel brake personally, PCCB do need a bit of heat to get it working but still more than adequate for the street just like you said.
