The fancy one from factory is probably better as far as cooking the rice goes, but if you don't use it gently, it starts to peel off little pieces in no time and it's pita (to find one) and $$$ to replace. Hence the switch.

I wash the rice in a plastic rice washing bowl designed for washing rice. They're cheap and have slits for water to spill out of. The bottom has raised nubs to make washing the rice easier.
I will post pic if I can find one. I got them from a shop on Powell Street next to Sunrise Market. My old stomping grounds. I'm sure they sell them at just about any Asian market.
