If the price difference between WRX and STi is $10k, you can't expect the STi to worth $10k more than WRX 10 years later. However it would still worth more than the WRX. Also the percentage of depreciation will probably be the same.
For example, the base Mercedes S Class go for $120,100. And the top of the line S Class AMG is going for $253,300. The price difference is $133,200.
You can't expect the S Class AMG to worth $133,200 more than the normal S Class 10 years down the road. Same thing as this WRX vs STi debate.
