I suggested i bring food over (she agreed)
What else are we going to do.....
Do i bring like a good children's movie over to keep the little one occupied while i get to know the babysitter?

Go in expecting nothing. But be prepared for the unexpected. That way you don't get disappointed and if something lucky happens then you're set.
You're there to help her out with the kids. Show her you're good with that shit and responsible. Put the kid to sleep early and watch a movie alone with her or whatever cool idea you got. Don't push too far, but you need to make your intentions known. Walk the fine line.
