So just a disclaimer - just stating the facts here before this debacle gets outta hand. Both are good cars in their own right and the 10k difference can only be justified by the individual making the purchase. As for resale values; a quick search of 2013/2012 civics show them being priced at an average of 14k for the EX-L model (Msrp of 27500 after tax - I did not include freight or any discounts. Strictly Msrp + tax) which means the Honda civic retains 50.9% of its value over the course of 5 years. The 2012/2013 wrx I only found 2 and averaged the price to about 27k after 5 years. Msrp was 40k after tax which means it retained 67.5% of its value. SO - the wrx holds its value more. Usually the wrx/sti doesn't get discounted till it's their mid cycle refresh and they are cars with high demand amongst the tuner crowd.
