Being a sneakerhead back then was more of a subculture, now everyone and their mom are "into" sneakers. And willing to pay resale to wear the new hype be it Yeezys/UBS/NMDS now. When AF1s were huge in the early 2000s Nike made more then enough to meet the demand, then the SB Dunk craze happened and Nike bought into their own hype and started limiting supply to create hype. 2005 was the turning point, the SB pigeon then the Yeezy 1 in 2009 Concord 11 in 2011 Yeezy 2 in 2012 and now Adidas hype.
