It's 4x4. Has 2wd, auto 4wd and full time 4wd, just like any GM truck, it just doesn't have 4lo (low range).
Havn't had a problem with chains on the back yet, it's a little harder than trucks to get them on, cause tighter space, and you really need to make sure they are good and tight so they don't slap around.
It was a rash decision to switch from a pickup to this, I only did it to stop other site workers from hopping in the thing and using it to move around garbage and stuff (Per the BC mines act I have to leave the keys in the ignition all the time). Now nobody touches it, cause they understand it isn't just some general use vehicle.
