Basically with bike tech, remove mirrors, tape up lights and reflectors (this is so to prevent shards on track if you were to down), make sure everything is in good working order, tight nuts and bolts, nothing will fall off (like an exhaust), good brake and tire life/age.

I think minimum requirement for gear is two piece leather suit, Snell 2010 (I'd recommend a Snell 2015) helmet, CE lvl 2 back protector. Also recommend gauntlet gloves. Shortys aren't going to cut it.

Just put a bit of common sense into it. Think, "is this dangerous to myself or others?"
