don't forget, oil/ coolant lines for turbo, the "smart" alternator cooking batteries with no permanent fix, more oil leaks, turbo issues, carbon build up, injector issues.......... seen one throw a connecting rod as well.

always 2-3 of those N63 cars in the shop with subframe dropped along with the long block.

if I ever do sell any one of those, I always tell my customers buy a damn warranty, if not, just don't touch one at all and stick with a N55 powered car.

Engineers are given a goal target for output. they do their thing. the bean counters degrade the quality of the hardware. marketing guys also give the input of requesting shorter life span on parts, so they fail right before lease ends or in a certain time frame of 3-7 years.

Its not just BMW though, it goes for quite a few brands nowadays. Cars aren't built to last anymore as people switch cars every few years. Manufactures figure they'd make more money by switching their customers every few years instead of building an honest and reliable machine.
