It's not easy to get lost in Beijing. Just take the Subway from the airport. Traffic is atrocious and you'll waste a ton of time on the road. I'm assuming you only have a few days or hours and need to get to the Forbidden City?


Take the Airport line to the Dark Blue circle line (Line 2) and then take it any direction (but it's faster counter clockwise). Get off at Qianmen station. Then walk north towards the big square (Tiananmen Square). Can't miss it. There's a big picture of this guy if you get lost:
