One guy from the Accord forum said this:

As a follow up to some earlier posts in this thread, I stopped by my local dealership today to look at their Civic Type R. What an experience! As shown in the photos below, they roped it off as if it were a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO. I asked the sales rep if he could open it so I could look at the inside, feel the seats, etc. He said “management won’t let me.” And in a kidding way he then asked, “Do you think you can handle it?” I exhaled slowly, smiled and said, “I think I’d be okay.”

But the dealership’s condescending attitude about this car was both comical and irritating. So I asked the sales rep, “What‘s the real deal? It’s a nice a car but not that special. This Pilot (I pointed to one in the showroom) costs $14,000 more. It’s not roped off. I don’t get this. I just want to sit in it, not drive it.” “Sorry sir, we can’t do it.”

I should have been smarter than to try to reason with him. Anyway, moving on, their mark-up was not horrible. The front seats seemed to be made of a soft velour and looked seriously comfortable! Very red….but very comfy. However the back seat seemed to be the same as a basic Civic....not good. And the tail end has such harsh angles. If the average person who buys a new car is over 50 years old, that is one risky design.

Despite the dealership, the R may still be a contender if the 2018 Accord Sport is to understated for my tastes.

Sounds pretty stupid to me. Come on, it's not a supercar...
