for walking around the city you don't need a $700 shell, even a $100 cheap north face one will do. sure it won't last 10 years, it will probably delaminate before then, but TNF has a lifetime warranty anyway. a step up from that is going to MEC and buying whatever waterproof shell they have under their own brand. still plenty good enough for commuting around the city. those w/ $700 arctery'x shells who wonder why the hood is so big and pockets are so high are the ones who just go for the most expensive stuff without knowing what it's for. i see too many showoffs wearing these.
