What punkwax said is what I was going to suggest as well.
Also, from my own experience, so many of my friends that have refused to leave the lower mainland are just spinning their wheels year after year. A lot of us that have moved away (I'm currently in Fort Mac, was in Calgary for a while as well) and have decent jobs, multiple properties, toys, a lot of vacation time, etc. To me it seems like a no brainer to branch out. Just have to decide what you value.
