Saw the reviews and decided to skip watching it in theatres.... found it through an "alternative" source today. It wasn't terrible, but I'm a pretty big Star Wars nerd so I can't really hate anything that makes me relive my childhood. But it was definitely not as good as Force Awakens, or even Rogue One.

I'm not usually one to poke holes in movies but this one had more than I expected, mainly:

As for the whole "warp speed kamikaze" thing, I do remember in Return of the Jedi, Vader's Super Star Destroyer was eventually disabled when an A-wing flew into the bridge. When I was a kid I always wondered why they didn't just always do that.

I'm not usually one to poke holes in movies but this one had more than I expected, mainly: Spoiler! 1) Casino side plot. Basically pointless. As other said above, just feels like a useless distraction. And all the animals (bird-looking things and the horse-like creatures) is classic Disney. I get that they're trying to rehash the whole Ewok thing all over again but it didn't work for me. 2) When Finn drags Rose back to the Rebel base after she crashes his speeder into him... how did he drag her for what looks like 2-3 kilometers, all while there's an entire fleet of AT-AT's opening fire on Luke's force projection right in between them and the door? You'd think someone would notice them, since everyone's pretty much looking in that exact spot already. 3) So Leia practises the Force now? How was she able to revive herself in space and somehow miraculously return to safety? 4) Snoke's death. They spent pretty much all of The Force Awakens making him out to be this super evil badass guy like Emperor Palpatine and he gets killed in the dumbest way possible. If this guy can supposedly bridge people's minds together across entire star systems he can't detect that the lightsaber 3 inches away from him is spinning and about to go off? 5) Imperial Guard. If I remember correctly, Yoda put two of these things down with a wave of his hand in Revenge of the Sith. Yet they almost kill Kylo Ren and cut up Rey? Unless this is the new improved version of them that can actually fight (it's possible). 6) How did Rey get out of that Dark Side "hole" thing on Luke's island? Looked like a long drop to me....
