There is always a deductible you'll have to pay, that's just how insurance works (unless you found the liable party).

Like what Edison said, you can call dial a claim first and ask if it'll be covered under comp or H&R. Once a claim has been created, you'll either bring it to an ICBC express valet shop or Claim Centre for assessment. The estimator will review and determine if the damage is consistent with either a comp or H&R claim. Both types of claim will not affect your insurance.

However, if the estimator reviews the damage and, under the suspicion, believes the damage is not consistent with the type of loss, then ICBC CAN still cover it as a collision claim but there will be an impact on your insurance. At this point, you can go and see how much it will cost to fix out of pocket. As long as you don't pay your deductible, your insurance won't be covering for the repair (no impact on your insurance).
