For some reason I thought iCloud was way more expensive. I would've turned this on and not have lost all my photos if it was only $15 a year
using Google Photos with my Pixel now and it's been great.
I also use Google Photos as a place to store my other photos, you can't keep them at the highest resolution but it's ok for what I need. I use GitHub for all my personal projects, used to use Dropbox for this but decided to just pay $7 a month
For my non cloud storage I use a 2TB time machine external for my Macbook, 2TB external for my photos and I have a NAS that I back up the 2TB external to.
