Personally, I think the current crop of mainstream hybrids are not worth my while, but I'd openly admit that I am biased against them.
We have a Prius in the family, and both the power delivery and driving experience has to be one of the worst I have ever experienced in a 4 wheeled vehicle. The car has a mind of its own when it comes to how much power it will give you, and it is frustrating when the ECU won't give you full power just because it thinks it's a bad idea to do so.

The car also handles like a pig, with the rear beam axle literally feel like it is dragging its feet around the whole time. I get that this is a Prius, and its target audience probably doesn't give a crap about these 2 things. But hey, I told you I'm biased.
Also, I think a hybrid without any sort of plug-in capability is a load of bullcrap. The biggest savings are supposed to come from the electric motors, but if I can't manually top up the juice, it means I can't control the amount of savings I get from the car, so why bother getting one in the first place?
