I think this car will teach you how to do a little bit more than oil changes. While the powertrain in this car is nukeproof, everything around the powertrain will need care and attention for daily use.
However, the servicing you'll need to be doing won't be quite out of your skillset if you're already doing oil changes. eg. Lubing hinges, replacing interior switches, brittle old plastics, small gaskets / bushings etc.
I'm *hopefully* buying a W123 in July and have been doing my usual Forum googling for common problems. Parts are cheap for this car and plentiful, as around the world they were mfg. by the millions. It is a simple car, and I know some things that are out of my realm (old, complicated Vacuum systems, turbo maintenance), will be dealt with through local specialists.
