The funny thing is, I had no idea who she was either. But my kids knew Lil Tay. So when I brought it up to them, they were shocked that I actually knew who she was.

It's a different world compared to how we grew up. When we were kids, people were conventionally famous. You had your tv and movie stars. But you also had small market stars, like Dodd!

Who doesn't remember the Dodd's furniture commercials?

Buddy was famous in the lower mainland and Vancouver Island back in the day.

Nowadays, guys like Pewdiepie have made more money from playing videos games, than anyone outside of the kings of DOTA. Who the fuck is pewdiepie anyway?! For those who still watch mainstream media, he's nobody. But online, he's a god. Same goes for Bregoli. She gets booed out of her first big DJ set and everyone laughed. But she still cashes about $2 million a year in checks. If not for Dr Phil, she would be just another broke ass nobody.

It's crazy.

That's why I like this story so much.
They had a great opportunity to make something out of nothing, and mom/bro let the star do the talking.

Unless we're talking about Clooney, you never let the star do the talking. Dumb ass mom and teenager know it all brother created lightning in a bottle, but unfortunately they didn't know what to do next.

Totally.
It's that desire to be famous, regardless of how it's done. 15 years ago, it was celebrity sex tapes. Now it's all about followers and likes on social media. I love that a regular person could become famous online, whether it's a blogger or a musician. But with that, come the prank youtuber channels, the extreme rooftoppers.

In times like this, I really miss Jason00S2000.
