I bought a used "urban ryder" (i know.. cheesy name) off craiglist for $900, which had about 2500KM on it at the time of purchase. I just past 4100KM. Use it for work commute, it takes just a bit longer than my car lolol... I live near Burnaby City Hall and work at Market Crossing.
car commute is about 20min (rush hour mon - fri 9 - 5)
bike commute is about 28min
Lol that hill up Gilley in a normal pedal bike will be insane....
As for riding, if its a smaller city street, I use the road because it is way smoother. And I ride pretty close to the curb/parked cars that cars can pass beside me no problem. On bigger road like Byrne or Marine way, than yea... sidewalk
The bike is stored in my garage at home, and in my actual office at work. Ya, don't trust it leaving it outside at all.
Lastly.. range, yes, I've tried riding from home to Stanley Park, around the sea wall and back. One charge, and I wasn't really trying to conserve. So yup.
I did a bit of research before buying in though. The main reason I choose this e bike is that their main office is right next to the Speed Syndicate in Burnaby, so nice and close if I need any spare parts. And the bike is also sold by Costco (I think it retails for about $1600 new). Which you know, if you want a piece of mind, costco return policy is... one of the best.
