Was about to say please google LBO's but I see phozy has already explained.
You know what's worse than a LBO (LBO results are only hindsight - ever; unless crystal ball is present) ?
A PE appointed CEO that tells hard working people to stay with the company as it transforms it self into profitability, to accept pension funding freezes until profitability, etc. and when these poor folks believe and bust ass the CEO does a 180 and declares bankruptcy.
