It's a nice gesture to wish someone a happy birthday but it's coming from people I never spoke with otherwise. Felt so much better. Didn't have to feel compelled to thank people I don't interact with otherwise. May as well go to the kid celebrating their birthday at a Red Robin table and do the same.

Yeah, the pity birthday wishes were one of the signs I should stop. Empty, useless, and do nothing from someone who only knows you as an obligation rather than a friend.
I even gave up Messenger and I'm no longer bothered by people who only want to buy parts from me at a discount.
