That is what is infuriating with it all. I'm okay with VIs on cars that truly deserve it, but to single out car enthusiasts - even if their car is completely legal - is not ok.

Agreed, but given that this is going on we should also be discussing how we can avoid being given a VI to the best of our abilities.
