Would be interested in what this process is like, how easy / difficult is it to pass the inspection, what are the implications of the vehicle being registered as "modified" compared to regular status, etc.

I'd suspect a higher insurance premium gets charged because of the "modified" category. But other than that, I have no idea what other potential implications there might be.
