Has anyone in contact with the media opened the door into potential for corruption with the way this entire law is enforced... ie: if I was a cop and my brother owned Vancouver Honda or was the manager there or whatever... I could spend my entire day pulling over Honda's and referring them to dealership for VI and make him a mint.
There's usually multiple checks for this stuff at all levels of government, but with the way these rules are being enforced it's entirely the officer's discretion and direction. No oversight. That's always bad.
They shouldn't be able to specify where to go, it's not their job or right to 'police' whether shops are legit or not... that's ICBC's job, otherwise why do we even have an accreditation process for vehicle inspections at shops if only dealerships can do it right (according to the VPD). If I was a third party shop right now paying to have licensed inspectors on my staff I'd be super pissed with this.
