Update 4:

Just got off the phone with the reporter.

Here is what I need you guys to do:
  • If you have dashcam footage of your VI interaction email it to princeofrandomspam@gmail.com
    • include a recent picture of your car;
    • inspection forms/other evidence;
    • and your username/contact info.
  • Help me find other people that got VI'd.
Details:

It will be a 1:30 TV interview with a maximum of 2 people. The vehicle will be shown, which is why Skunkworkz is automatically out for this. I'm going to try to see if his story will still work with pictures. There is potential for submitted dashcam videos to be posted as a followup (or followup interviews).

Points Discussed:

We discussed the below points. Thank you so much mj_39 for providing such a good summary.

We also discussed the lack of professionalism, specifically when someone is acting/talking in an aggressive manner (understandable - you're pissed) or when questions are being asked, resulting in stricter penalties and further aggression from the officer involved.

This was a strong talking point because police officers are held to a higher standard. They are expected to be understanding and to be able to de-escalate situations. While many are just following orders, the expectations are in their job descriptions. This is not happening. It is concerning that citizens cannot freely speak to police officers or ask questions without the officers reacting in an aggressive manner or issuing stricter penalties.

I also briefly discussed - out of my own opinion - the current situation of Georgia v Montana LLC. This is related because in the same case, PDs/Govs turned a blind eye to the issue of modified vehicles for a number of years. I believe that if the community was given a warning to comply, many would comply. Instead, we are given forced inspections.

Unfortunately I also had to discuss what sparked me into making the initial post and thus had to talk about the alleged disrespectful actions of Dukkake.

Lastly, someone, please, volunteer. We are finally given a chance to voice our stories and be heard. This issue goes beyond you and me. I'd want my younger brother and his friends to be able to enjoy being a car enthusiast, without being labeled as a criminal. If you have concerns about volunteering, you can feel free to PM me/Email me/Post here and I'll direct them to the reporter.

The reporter mentioned that unless your car looks really modified, it shouldn't be an issue with the public. It really comes down to how well the public resonates with what you're saying. "It's not just the car, it's the person too."
