If choosing between NA Miata and 124, some reasons to go 124 include that it uses NC transmission (thus no chance of exploding unlike ND1 which has gone through 3 gearbox revisions) and better sound (once an exhaust is put on). The turbo motor is also torquier but the power delivery is sometimes laggy and drops off at high RPM.
