I think I would prefer 120Hz for sports. I don't know a lot about TV's so I'm trying to research as fast as I can, but BF is coming up very soon and some TV's are already available at sale prices.
Budget is around $500~ give or take.
I'm currently using a 39" Samsung UN39EH5003. Pretty happy with it, but just ready for a bigger TV with similar/better quality.

I bought a Hisense 50" 4k TV back in March to use as a computer monitor. Obviously not the best but good enough for me. 4k video from my PC looks fine. Cost me about $500, Visions has one right now for $400...
