Yea, used to be my job. The reason why its the cost of the computer is they would quote you top case (keyboard) as well as the mobo. Depending on damage you can fix the mobo yourself with some clever tricks (youtube it)

Top case would vary, sometimes it'll be fine as water just "traveled" thru it but varries. The only thing is after a botch fix, reliability can be shotty.
