You're right about the low-mid end torque. My cars always revved high and made good power, but it was the low-mid rpm that was limited by a lack of displacement. The roots blower made up for that.
I was pushing around 270whp with my B18b/VTEC/M62 combo and that was amazing back in the day. The car was fast enough for mid-13's on street tires and full stereo and interior. It would have been a 12 second car on drag radials with a little weight loss. I know every fuer dai with a Bugatti runs 9's now, but back in the late 90's/early 2000's if you ran a 14.1 second quarter mile, you were a boss
To me the best part was the sound. A roots blower makes such a symphony when it revs, and the sound when VTEC kicked in was glorious.

Nice. Ya I remember guys back in the day were pushing around 260-280 whp with the 11-12 psi pulley with water cooling. LHT was one of the companies I remember that did the water cooling mod. Daily driving with a supercharger on a Honda is fun, you can actually pass someone without the need to hit VTEC. Also sat in a few supercharged Hondas back in the day at auto X events and boy it was quick.
