Hi everyone!
I recently received the long awaited MB AMG-GTR from Almost Real. I finally had sometime during this past weekend to take some pics.
There has been alot of comparison between AR's MB and AA's (autoart) MB-AMG GTR. So here is the info so far...Comments are welcomed.
Almost Real:
Pro's
- Diecast metal construction
- Carbon roof is well made.
- Actual working suspension - not Maisto type suspension. Actual car suspension.
- Slightly better interior compared to AA's pre-release pics.
- The engine block is separate piece (the underside of the car is not a one piece mold)
Con's
- Since this is a diecast metal body, there are the usual panel gap issues.
- the front hood is diecast metal, so it is heavy and won't stay in the open position too long (on my model).
- The hood vents are not photo etched. So it is not see through.
- The brake calipers are missing some decal details. it suppose to have the word "carbon" on it.
Overall this is a great model. Are there flaws? Yes. But, then again which model doesn't have any flaws? A lot of collectors are saying Almost Real is the real deal, and they are giving AA a run for its money. If you are turned off with AA's use of plastic composite, then I suggest give Almost Real a look. But which ever one you choose, you will end up with good quality model. ATM AutoArt Canada has not announced any Canadian release dates or pricing for their MB AMG GTR.
Hope you enjoy the pics.
Happy collecting!
William
