Everyone's bitching that this was completely random on Vince's part and it all makes no storyline sense. It's not random at all, it makes perfect sense. Vince's hands were tied on this. He HAD to inject Charlotte into the main event. Pull up your chairs kids, it's storytime.

You see, years ago in late 2001, Ric Flair showed up on Raw and revealed to Vince that he bought Stephanie and Shane's company shares to fund the WCW/ECW Alliance, thus now making him 50% owner of the WWF. However, Ric secretly revealed to Vince (according to Meltzer) that his teenage daughter wanted to someday become a wrestler and main event Wrestlemania. Ric had already set the paperwork up to ensure that even if he lost power, Vince would always be legally obligated to guarantee Charlotte a spot in the main event someday once she had grown up. (Thus explaining Vince's bizarre and frantic tugging of his ear that night.) There was no staute of limitations in place, so Vince's actions tonight on Raw were inevitable. Flair was a brilliant strategist and had his lawyers draw up an ironclad clause in his 2001 ownership deal that was simply unbreakable.

So the years started ticking away. Charlotte grew up, trained to be a wrestler, rose through the ranks of NXT and now the bill has come due. Vince had to shuffle out there at the last second tonight, frustrated at feeling so helpless, fumbling his words and coming off a bit nervous. Vince McMahon hates being manipulated like that, but it was all good and legal and a deal's a deal.

So you see, this is merely the end result of a long game set up by Ric Flair way back in 2001. This will all come to light at his 70th birthday bash in a few weeks, I'm sure. You people simply need to brush up on your wrestling history.
