This is interesting information. Nothing is outlined for illegal/unsafe Legal modifications
* Current Drivers Test Handbook * MV2902 (062016)
Class 5/7 "Tuning up for the Drivers"
- Drivers are responsible for a reliable vehicle, which meets "Legal Requirements"
- Vehicle defects & preventing breakdowns
- Basic car parts information
10 - Common things that would cancel a road test:
- Dash warning lights - safety eg. airbags
- Lights broken
- Unsafe tires
- Working Doors & Windows
- Broken/cracked windows - tinting door windows / windshield
- Seat belts not working or frayed
- Unsafe vehicle modifications
The MVA (upgrades to a vehicle) is interpreted by the average "Class 5" vehicle owner - They are ticketed for Vehicle Inspection and all of the sudden labeled "Vehicle Defective".
The Government & ICBC are responsible for making the "MVA" less cryptic for the general public. The average driver is/has been targeted with a law, which actually requires a Lawyer to interpret vs a LEO handing out a ticket "Vehicle Inspection". Generations of drivers have been victims and accused guilty (knowing illegal modifications)
****** Quebec - Has a website, which outlines vehicle modifications in clear and simple language. *******
