Leveling 100 year old floors
Recently undertook the daunting task to level my floors prior to a kitchen renovation and flooring install.
This fir pictured was run under the center wall as well as behind a lot of the lathe and plaster so it’s fairly safe to assume its original or at the very least has been there for most of the house’s life.
Some parts of the floor could have been salvaged with a sanding and staining however the largest room had had dozens of drywall screws screwed right through the middle of the panel in an attempt to stop squeaks I’m assuming. So it was no good.
From an outside wall to a center bearing wall approx 13’ the floor was out 2” and most of thay happened over the last 5 feet.
This shit is a lot of fucking work.. obviously ideally you would have preferred to sister the joists below level but that involves even more work and and an open basement.
