There's always two instructors: One that don't give a shit, act tough and the other that cares about their students experience and skills within the class.

If there were other pairs, I don't know why the instructor didn't just switch partners once you reported the issue.. If this is the first time you've complained he could have really just assumed positive intent.

I've taken kickboxing classes from just your average kickboxing instructor and another from an actual Martial Arts instructor and it was a night and day difference. MA Instructors IMO are more respectful and will push you to your limit when they learn to understand your physical potential. They also don't hesitate to discipline the shit out of you for foul hits, disrespect etc; which is fare.

Don't ever expect "special/ priority" treatment but if you find your not treated equally amongst your peers and you don't feel comfortable confronting your instructor, I would find a new place. Why pay for something you're not happy with.

I would suggest taking a Martial Arts class. Usually young adults biggest reservation is being at the bottom of the class or lowest ranking belt. Funny thing is, you normally rank faster than teens as you're more mature, aware of your own physical capabilities/ accessibilities. This can also vary drastically too.

Hope this helps,
