The driver produced a photo British Columbia Driver’s licence in the name of Ian Sheldon Shafer. Cst. Thompson satisfied himself that the person depicted in the photo on the licence as Ian Sheldon Shafer was the driver of the vehicle.

Cst. Thompson testified that, as Mr. Shafer, the driver of the vehicle, was unable to provide any proof of insurance, he asked Mr. Shafer how long he had lived in British Columbia and received an answer that he “was travelling back and forth between BC and Nevada”. When asked by Cst. Thompson how long he had been in BC this time, Mr. Shafer answered “four months”. Cst. Thompson testified that he then asked Mr. Shafer where he was presently living to which he received the answer “268 Milburne Drive, Victoria”.

Cst. Thompson testified that he was satisfied that Mr. Shafer had lived in British Columbia for 4 months and was not otherwise exempt from the requirement to insure his vehicle in British Columbia because he was not a student and did not meet any other exemptions so he issued Violation Ticket AH48416897 for speeding, no insurance and failure to register.

Sounds like big shit to me?

Even in court, he may have had NV insurance, but still got slapped with fail to register
