I don't think I'll ever get rid of my e36. Its easy to work on, taken me on 20k worth of road trips, 20k of normal driving and plenty of track days.
Yes it costs money. Fun things are expensive. I spend as much on snowboard trips as I do on maintaining this car. I spend twice as much on beer. I spend more on hotels. Its the way it is. Shitty cars that aren't fun cost money too.
I wouldn't consider a new BMW though when I can buy an old one and poorly wrench on it, costs aside.
