I have my doubts about lawyers from Trinity Western, given the institution's stance on gays.
I am not so quick to judge people, especially blue collar workers (and I'm not saying you were going after them, but it also applies to them) who compromise their principals in order to put food on the table and a roof over their head or for their family. If you can understand that individuals will go so far as to murder if it meant preventing their own child from starving to death, then being sympathetic and nonnudgemental over those compromises comes easy. I have that line of telling coal miners to "learn to code" as some similar out of touch and self righteous thinking. All leaders compromise their core beliefs to some extent when operating within a democracy.
