I think for me, it's the feeling of sun on the skin and wind around the legs that I really like.
Other than the Corvette and 911, not sure if there are any other targa cars?

the superamerica is targa goals (if it doesn't leak/breakdown)
i've never been a ragtop guy (still not) and thought hardtops were for retirees...i'm 6 months into targa ownership
i know some want simplicity and the 360 open air feeling, in vancouver as a 3-seasons vehicle i chose metal, rearward privacy and it looks damn good hardparked with top up
the experience will vary drastically by design
an initial drawback is a MASSIVE b-pillar regardless of top up/down, but with blindspot radar and proper mirrors i haven't notice it after the first week
the most common complaint is wind buffeting on highway (think sedan with rear window down) so i keep my top up if i'm gonna be on the highway for a while...otherwise it's almost always down even in light rain, if it wasn't for the aftermarket module (one-touch/removes the low speed limit) i probably wouldn't bother on a daily basis
