You'll be hard-pressed to find positive reviews of any insurance company (lol!) but most you'll find are negative reviews.

If it's of any value, I use Intact Insurance for my home and cars. While not the cheapest, their claims centre is literally 10 minutes from me, and my broker took the time to explain to me their policies (something you have to be careful about in Ontario where you have to do your due diligence.) I did my rounds of shopping with other insurance companies, but none were as thorough as my broker, and Intact.

I had my doubts about going with Intact at first, but when some pizza delivery guy backed into my Corolla, Intact took care of me from A to Z. I called them, gave them the details, and went to their claims centre the next day, got me into a courtesy vehicle, and gave me options on where I could take my car for repairs. They have a recommended list of top-their repair facilities which are factory approved, and are reputable, so I didn't have to worry about dealing with shady tow trucks and repair facilities (or chop shops for that matter) but they let me pick and choose whichever shop I wanted to use. A lot of other insurance companies I shopped around with only allowed you to use their proposed list of repair facilities, and repairs aren't always guaranteed (you really have to read the fine print.) My car needed some parts replaced, and Intact used only original Toyota parts, and not aftermarket. I was impressed, and felt that the premium was worth it. I wanted to use Hagerty to insure my Porsche but there were a laundry list of restrictions (and I mean a LOT!) When I saw the savings and the annual cost, it was attractive, but it's almost as if I wasn't allowed to drive my own car, so I sprung to insure it with Intact.

A lot of people bitch and complain about ICBC, but since moving here, I miss ICBC and the ease of shopping for insurance.
