The closest estimate we can draw from is how the timeline for SARS played out. On the other hand, transmissibility is way higher and far more difficult to track down. The Wuhan coronavirus epidemic has also grown far larger than SARS had ever been.
I fully expect the new cases to peak some time before May, and then it will start trending downward, but how long it would take before it completely dies down is anyone's guess. The real danger is that it cannot be completely eradicated this "season", and sporadic cases continue to occur until we hit Oct / Nov 2020 where it can flare up again. If that happens, then we'd know the disease is here to stay.
