I'm running KEF Q100 speakers powered by a Denon receiver (I forget which model.) I play CDs off of a Panasonic DMPBDT460 Blu-Ray player.
Popped in some older CDs for my collection over the years and they sound great. Some of the best recorded albums (for what I consider the gold standard) are CDs from 90s HK canto pop singers. There are still a handful of recording artists who use live bands and recorded and mastered by amazing engineers, but they are far and few these days.
