A PUBLIC FORUM TO ADDRESS THE GROWING VEHICLE INSPECTION ISSUE... #VPD
Dear Mayor Kennedy Stewart, Chief Constable Palmer, Deputy Chief Constable Chow, Superintendent Eely, Inspector Andersen, Sergeant Roed,

Police are first and foremost respected members of our community. We trust that you to carry out your work fairly and judiciously. We salute your service so it brings us no joy to address you on this public forum.

Your silence has been deafening. It’s been over a week since we invited you to meet with us. Since then many leaders of essentially every car club in Vancouver - representing every automotive brand have reached out to us to express their interest in joining our conversation with you. In addition, over 450 people (mostly from Vancouver) have shared our original Facebook post which has reached over 70,000 people.

We endeavour to engage in a candid and productive conversation with you. Our objective remains to learn how we as law-abiding motorists and consumers of federally approved unmodified cars can avoid receiving undeserved traffic violations and unwarranted notice and orders when driving in the City of Vancouver from the Vancouver Police Department. This meeting is invaluable as it will help build trust and understanding on both sides.

“Every kind of peaceful cooperation among men is primarily based on mutual trust and only secondarily on institutions such as courts of justice and police.”
— Albert Einstein

Please understand that there are consequences to your actions. Accept that the Vancouver Police Department takes money every time an innocent motorist pays a frivolous and undeserved fine. Acknowledge that innocent motorists suffer further harm from the Vancouver Police Department as their ICBC insurance premiums increase (for all their vehicles) because of the 3 demerit points (issued for unnecessary noise violations). To impel their damages, to execute compliance on your notice and orders (especially those calling for full vehicle inspections) takes time and further inconveniences innocent motorists while costing them money. Realize that challenging frivolous tickets in court further inconvenience innocent motorists, they also waste the court’s time and ultimately cost taxpayers money. Your officers benefit as they are paid extra wages, sometimes at overtime rates to attend court.

Again we extend our request to meet with you or your representatives from the Vancouver Police Department in good faith. Please kindly meet us this coming Saturday morning at 9am on February 29th 2020 at the Hollyburn Country Club located at 950 Cross Creek Road, West Vancouver, BC V7S 2S5. Should you require transportation, one of our members will happily drive you to the club and back to a VPD station of your choice. We look forward to meeting with you soon.

*We invite leaders of Vancouver’s car clubs and the media to join us. Please kindly private message us if you wish to attend. Thank you very much.

We are all part of the vibrant community of Vancouver so we kindly ask that all those who attend be respectful of the police officers who possess the fairness to attend our meeting - let’s all be kind. We also ask that we focus on discussing the issues and refrain from voicing grievances against specific VPD officers. Thank you very much.

Please share this post with people who live and work in Vancouver.
