Looking back at the early expert predictions, we had Dr. Michael Osterholm on Joe Rogan saying 480K deaths, and then the experts at the UCSF panel putting it at 1.2-2.1 million deaths. Dr. Nicholas Christakis on Sam Harris didn't put out an infection number IIRC, but said he expected a 0.6% death rate. That would be somewhat in line with Osterholm's probably.
It was hard enough to fathom those numbers then, still tough to imagine now.
If you think the US has it bad, imagine what it was like for the people in China with Wuhan under lockdown. All those people in there, just waiting for their time to come. It must have literally been like an apocalyptic zombie movie. We'll never know. I heard they're starting to see outbreaks again (as predicted)
