I did thermofoil for my apartment kitchen as well. It's cheap and looks good. One draw back is that it is sensitive to heat. For example a couple of my door panels are starting to shrink and fold in because of how close it is to the flames of the gas stove. Be careful of bread toasters and steam from kettles because they will also shrink the laminate on the doors as well.
