i've owned 1st gen is300 for 10 years, never given me any problems just mainly oil changes, couple sets of tires and a new clutch
The only problem is everyone else has left them behind.

If the IS500 rumors are true it's the same 5L v8 from before. When it was compared to the E90 m3's V8 it wasn't as fast. How would it compare to the engines of today?

In every performance test of note, the M3 outgunned the Lexus, yet it didn’t trail in refinement or comfort. The BMW’s suspension, like the Lexus’s, will never be accused of pampering its driver, but it absorbed every bump without upsetting the chassis.
If they use the same engine with some tweaks there's no way it can beat the M3 of today. BUT judging on the naming scheme, it can also be some sort of twin-turbo 6. If that's true I'm thinking its aim to compare the M340i and C43AMG rather than M3/C63.
