that's pretty cynical - most people wear a seatbelt because it provides them with a better chance to survive a crash
wearing a mask gives you (or others) a better chance to survive a virus.
my point at the beginning was simply that most people respond pretty well to a request, but not as well to an order. BC (BH) recognized this at the very beginning. Ask, don't order. People are ready to raise statues in her name - do you think that would happen if everybody was afraid a cop was going to give them a ticket for walking down the street without a mask? The shit tickets they were handing people in ontario for stepping off a sidewalk made national news.
that may not be the case in other parts of the world, where the population is more accepting of government authority, but here it is a better plan.
I just saw redcat records is requiring patrons to wear a mask - good on em for taking responsibility for their own business space. Not because the bylaw guy will come around, but because it's the right thing to do.
