This is exactly what's happening to Van. I grew up in east van and the neighbourhood feel I grew up with is completely gone. Rentals & cars line the streets, your neighbours are strangers & always changing, houses/yards aren't maintained, etc. It's becoming quite a clusterf* in many pockets. A sign of the times I suppose, but it's a stark difference compared to what it was like 20 years ago.
